A few finds!

I love when I find cheap, cute things for our house.  I don't like a lot of clutter so I only buy something when I know I have a place to put it.  When I saw these two things recently I knew I could find a place for them and I had to have them!  A few weeks ago I went to Hobby Lobby and I found this adorable bird cage.  It was 50% off.  I love bird cages and when I saw this I knew I had to have it so I told Graig it was my Valentine's Day present from him!  I put it in our dining room, this spring I will get a plant or some flowers to put in it.

I got these numbered jars at Homegoods. I LOVE that store!  They were only $7!

Tonight we are getting ready for the week ahead!  The kids go back to school tomorrow so I need to get them to bed early tonight!  Happy Sunday!

Ribbon Wreaths!

Lately I have been loving ribbon wreaths!  I made one for Valentine's Day and I liked it so much I decided to make another one.  I made this black and white one for our kitchen. I LOVE it!  It took about 3 hours to make and a lot of hot glue but the finished product is SO cute!  I got my ribbon on Etsy, it's so much cheaper than buying it at the store.  All of this ribbon was about $13!

Happy Saturday!

St. Patrick's Day decorations!

I don't have a lot of things for St. Patrick's Day but I do like putting out a few things for this holiday. I concentrate my decorations on our dining room hutch and on a little table in our living room. I think decorations make a bigger impact when seasonal things are put together in a group.
I have a lot of green things in my normal decor so I put every green thing I had downstairs on our hutch to make it festive for St. Patrick's Day!

This is the hutch in our dining room.  I love changing it out for the seasons.  I didn't buy anything new this year.  These are all things I have had in the past.   I love my little lemon tree from Pottery Barn.

I printed this subway art from the eighteen25 blog.  The subway art printables they do are SO cute!

This is the little table in our dining room. I love the "kiss me I'm Irish" sign!

This is the center piece on our dining room table.  I really like that it's simple and clean looking.  The candle that's burning is cupcake from Bath and Body Works.  I love that scent.  And right now at BBW their large candles are $10 each!

We have a fun weekend planned,  tonight we are going to go snow tubing!  We have never been but I've heard it's really fun!  Tomorrow we are going shopping I am looking for a new comforter set for our bedroom. Have a good weekend!

Winter Break

Brock and Ava are out of school this week and I am taking Thursday and Friday so I could spend some time with them.
Today I went to get a pedicure and Ava got a kid's manicure.  It was fun to have a little girl time!    We both love getting our nails done!
We also made the Pioneer Woman's Cinnamon Rolls today. It was quite the process but they were SO good!    The recipe made so many! We all ate way too many of them today.  Brock and Ava helped roll out the dough.  Brock was so annoyed that I took this picture.  He hates getting his picture taken-ha ha.  I am just happy that he wanted to hang out with us he is usually with his friends or playing basketball.

Here is Ava cutting the cinnamon rolls.  The one recipe made 6 pans!  We will be eating cinnamon rolls all weekend!

Here we are waiting for the cinnamon rolls to get done.

Last night I went to a wine tasting with my friends Allison and Sara.  It was fun to get out of the house and have some girl time.  We had such a good time and it was fun catching up.  Sara went to school in the south (Mississippi State) and we spent a lot of time talking about sororities she had 400 girls in her sorority!  I went to Eastern Illinois University and had 130 in mine and I thought that was big-ha ha!I. Allison and I both work as sorority/fraternity advisors at different colleges and our average chapter size is about 40-50  it was so interesting hearing about Sara's sorority experience!

Allison and me  Thanks for going Allison I had a great time!

Sara, Allison and me

Happy Thursday!  We are getting a big storm her tonight and tomorrow morning.  I hope it clears up because we are going snow tubing tomorrow evening when Graig gets done with work.  We are all looking forward to it!

A surprise gift!

A few nights ago my friend Allison stopped by with a gift for me!  She said she saw this lamp in a craft store in town and thought of me when she saw it so she got it for me.  She is SO sweet!  I love it!  I put it in our living room and I think it looks perfect in there!

Thanks Allison!!  I LOVE it!!

Coffee table redo #2

Last summer I re-did a coffee table for our living room.  I really liked the way it turned out!  A few weeks ago my friend Sabrina gave me a coffee table for our Sunroom.  It was a honey oak color before I painted it.
I bought an ebook on redoing furniture from Altar'd furniture.  I am SO glad I did!  That book is full of good information!  I am now on the lookout for other things around our house to re do-ha ha!

I chose a turqoise color from Behr that was suggested in the ebook that I love! I am going to Hobby Lobby this weekend to look for some knobs for the drawers.

I distressed it using Martha Stewart glaze.  It was so easy to use and I love the way it looks!  You can't mess up glaze! I got the little plant on top at a craft shop in town.  It was with their Easter and spring stuff.  I think it's really cute! I can't wait for spring!

Happy Wednesday!

Ballet class

Every Tuesday Ava has ballet.  Usually parent's don't get to watch the class but last Tuesday was watch week so we got to stay and watch Ava.  It was fun to see what they do in class.  Ava dances at home but when we watch her she stops dancing-ha ha!

There are about 20 little girls in her class and they do bar work and floor work during her class.  I was actually suprised by how much they do in one hour!  They start out at the bar.  Here is Ava at the bar.

I love this picture of the girls.  Ava is one of the tallest in the class.   I have no idea where she got her height
from

I love this picture of Ava she looks so serious.

This is during their floor work. I love her dance class room.  It's in on the 3rd floor of a very old building on our Main Street.  Aren't those beautiful windows?

Another serious picture at the bar.  She is trying to grow out her bangs (thank goodness!  I HATE bangs!) for her recital in May.

Mrs. Decker working with Ava.  She is a great ballet teacher!

Happy Tuesday!

Catch up!

I can't believe I haven't blogged in three weeks! I didn't really mean to take a break but I got busy doing other things and I didn't get around to blogging.
Here  is a little catch up post so you can see what we have been doing these past few weeks.

Brock just ended his 8th grade basketball season. These pictures are from his last game.  I have an continuous action setting on my camera so I tested it out.  Here is Brock shooting a free throw.

Here is Brock with his good friend George.  As you can tell they were THRILLED I was taking this picture-ha ha!

This is the best I could do with a whole team shot.  This was after their last game and they were ready to go. I really wanted a good picture to put in Brock's room so I guess this one will have to do.

We went out to lunch at a hibachi grill for my friend Stacie's b-day which was a lot of fun!  Here is a picture of all of us after lunch.

I also hosted a Bunco night at my house a few weeks ago.  This was us after our Bunco night!

Brock and Ava are out of school this week for their Winter Break.  They are SO excited to have the week off!  Tonight Ava is spending the night with Grandma Jan and Brock has a friend over.  Graig and I are watching TV and getting organized for the week.
