Botonical prints

Last summer I bought some botonical prints on ebay.  I really liked them but I wasn't sure what to do with them so they have been in our basement for almost a year!  When we painted our kitchen I decided to get them out and see if I could find places in our house to put them.  I put 6 of them around our house.  I really LOVE these prints and I am so happy that I was finally able to display them.  I got the frames and mats for $5 at Wal-Mart.

Here is the one in our kitchen.

I have two hanging in our dining room

And two in our living room

We also have one hanging by our front door

Have a good Sunday!

trash to treasure!

A few years ago, I got a big canvas picture to go above our desktop computer in our office.  For a while I wanted to get something different but big prints are SOOO expensive so I decided to try to re-do the big canvas that I already had to make it something that I would like looking at while I sit at our desk.

I got a bunch of black, white, blue and red scrapbook paper at Michael's.  Each piece was 12x12 so I cut them into 6x6 pieces (each piece of scrapbook paper make 4 squares).  I laid out my paper into a pattern that I liked and then I modge podged the scrapbook paper onto the canvas.

The sides of the canvas were already black so I didn't have to paint them.  This project took only about an hour from start to finish!  Cutting the scrapbook paper squares was the most time consuming part.  I used a paper cutter to make sure all of my edges were straight and using it saved a little time.

Here is the finished project.  I am so happy with the way it turned out!!

Here are some "in progress" pictures.  I learned that light weight scrapbook paper worked best for this project.  I am not really sure why but it was much easier to work with than the heavier weight paper.

I am SO happy it's Saturday!!  I hope you all have a great weekend.

2 Dollar Tree projects!!

Yesterday I went to the Dollar Store to get the supplies to make a cloche.    I don't have one in our house and I thought it would be fun to try to make one.  I just got a big glass vase and turned it upside down and added a wooden top that I got from Michael's.  I am going to put it on our dining room table for the spring.    I didn't make the eggs, I got them two years ago on etsy.  It was so quick and easy to make and I think it looks really cute!

While I was there I also got these twigs and I made a little spring display.  I really like the curly twigs in this display!  I needed something for this space and I think these twigs are perfect!!

This little bunny is one of my favorite spring decorations. I got it at Pier One last year.

I just found this new website that has a ton of great Dollar Store craft ideas!  I love getting cheap, crafty ideas for decorating projects.

TGIF!!  I am SO glad it's Friday!

coffee table redo

On Monday I decided to paint the top of our coffee table, it used to be a light oak and I wanted a change so I painted it a light robins egg blue color.  I really like the way it turned out!
It was a little change but I think it made a big difference!!  Painting things make SUCH a big difference!
Here is the before, the legs used to be navy blue and a while ago I painted them black.

Here are some after pictures (by the way our coffee table is usually never this clean-ha ha!)

Happy Thursday!!

Weekend painting project!

I feel like I am ALWAYS painting something!  I seem to always have paint brushes and paint cans out on our kitchen counter because I am ALWAYS painting!  It drives Graig crazy- ha ha!  and my friends make fun of me but I LOVE painting (well I don't LOVE painting but I like the results) it's a cheap and easy way to update a room!  This weekend I tackled our downstairs 1/2 bathroom.   I think this room used to be a closet (not kidding!).    When we moved in it had pink and blue flowered wallpaper so I sponge painted it green.  I wanted a fresher look so I repainted it.
I used the nester's svelte sage that I had leftover from our sunroom painting project.  I like the results!

Here is a before

And here is the after!!  I like it SO much more now!!

Happy Wednesday!

DIY Day-kitchen!!

My biggest DIY project so far has been painting our kitchen and kitchen cabinets.  I did the BIG project the week between Christmas and new years.  I LOVE the way it turned out but it was a ton of work!   When we moved in our kitchen was knotty pine-yuck!!!  It was awful!

I love the rest of our house and the kitchen was my least favorite room.  Right after we moved in Graig, my Dad and I spent a few days and painted our whole kitchen blue.  I  liked the way it looked for a few years but after a while I wanted a change!  So right after Christmas I decided to get to work.  It took a lot of work but I am SO glad I did it!  I really, really like our kitchen now!

Here are some before pictures:

Here is what it looks like now

I can't wait to see the other projects that will be shown today!  I always get so many good ideas.

Happy Tuesday!

St. Patrick's Day!

I just have a few St. Patrick's Day decorations but I like to get them out each year.  I put all of  them in our Dining Room.  I always like getting them out each year.  I made a green swag this year for St. Patrick's Day.  I used several different green and brown fabric and ribbons.  I think it turned out really cute!

Happy Monday!!
