Craft night!

Tuesday night my friend Allison and I got together to make some cute candy cane vases. While we worked we watched Christmas Vacation (Love that movie!) and ate Chinese food.   This is really an
easy and fun craft project!  These took about 15 minutes to make!  Here is the finished product.

My assistant and constant shadow Ava is holding the empty container that I used. It's an empty cotton candy container from Wal-Mart.  (Allison's idea-brilliant!) I found this in the Christmas candy aisle.   We just cut off the very top so our candy canes would stick out.
I used 3 boxes of plain candy canes on my vase.   Here is an in progress picture.

Almost finished!

When I was finished I just tied a bow around the center and was done!  These would make easy (and cheap!) gifts for teachers and neighbors.  I spent $9 on this.  The little tree in the vase was $5 from Walmart, the candy canes were $1 per box and the cotton candy was $1.

Speaking of candy canes here is another project I just finished.  It's a candy cane wreath I made using red and white felt.  This was such an easy project, I love those!  I followed the tutorial from I heart naptime.  For Valentine's Day I am just going to switch out my green ribbon for a pink one.

My last day of work for the week is today!  I took tomorrow off to help Ava at the Nutcracker.  She has two performances tomorrow.   One during the day for area schools and one in the evening.  Happy Thursday!

Christmas crafts!

I can't believe that I never showed my Christmas subway art that I did.  My friend Janna showed this idea on her blog for the fall and I loved it!  I did one for fall and then I made another one for Christmas.  I painted a canvas and then I added different scrapbook letter stickers and modge podged it.  Then I added some ribbon and hung it up!

I also made this super easy craft that I saw on another blog. I added scrapbook paper to a frame and then hot glued an ornament on the glass.  It turned out super cute!  I am going to leave this up all winter.

Tonight we're off to a Christmas party!  Enjoy this special time with your family and friends!  This really is my favorite time of the year!  Happy Thursday.

The cutest download!

There are lots of downloads for Christmas out in blogland. Tatertots and Jello did a great post on all the free downloads out there.   I love printing out these prints and putting them in our house for the holidays.  I found one that I absolutely LOVE here at the eighteen25 blog. It uses my favorite colors for Christmas red, lime and turqouise!  As soon as I saw it I knew that I had to print it out and put it up in our living room to celebrate the Christmas season!

I printed it out on photo paper and put it in a white frame that we already had.  Sorry for my weird flash in these pictures :(

Happy Wednesday!

Our Christmas kitchen

I did a little decorating in our Kitchen this year for Christmas.  It's the room we are in the most so I wanted it to have some Christmas spirit!  I didn't go crazy but I did add a few festive things.

This is the space on top of our fridge.  I love, love, love that plate.  I got it at Home Goods a couple of years ago and I always have it out somewhere.  I waned my Christmas colors to be red, lime green and turquoise so I tried to use those colors the most in my decorating this year.

Sorry I don't like the flash in this picture but I love this sign and little plate next to my cookbooks.  The little plate is from Wal-Mart and I'm not sure where I got the sign.

I made this Days Until Christmas sign by modepodging scrapbook paper on a silver tray.  I used leftover letter stickers.  I really wanted to get a advent calendar from etsy but they were really expensive so I made this instead.  It's not exactly the same but it's still fun.  Ava likes changing the date on the chalkboard tag every day.

Here is a close up of the Christmas countdown sign.  I got this beautiful red and turquoise paper at Michael's.

Happy Wednesday!

Ribbon Tree

Last week I made this little ribbon tree for Christmas.  I got the instructions at Tater Tots and Jello (love that blog!)  She actually made a wreath and a little tree.  I just made the little tree.  I got the tree form at the Dollar Tree.  This took a lot of ribbon.  I started with about 5 spools but I ended up needing more so I had to get 3 more spools so if you look close the ribbon at the bottom and the top don't match.  I think it turned out really cute and it was really easy to make.  It only took me about an hour.  She sewed her the ends of her ribbon together.  I just hot glued mine and it worked really well.

Since this project was so easy I am going to make a  ribbon wreath for Valentine's Day.  I think that will be really cute!

Happy Monday!

Joy!

Ava LOVES to wear her hair wavy like me but the poor thing has stick straight hair, it has no wave to it at all.  I told her that she is SO lucky and that people pay big bucks to have their hair straight.  She always wants me to make it wavy which is quite a process.  We have to put foam rollers and she has to sleep in them.  Since she likes wavy hair she never complains.  While she was sleeping last night I took this picture of her, I thought she looked so cute in her shower cap that she wears over her curlers.  So sweet!!

While I was busy curling Ava's hair Graig was busy playing with Daisy.   He loves hanging out with Daisy!!

Tonight when I got home I did this quick Christmas project.  I saw it on another blog last year ( I don't remember which one-sorry!!)  Anyway, I already had the letters which I just painted and then I put red and white scrapbook paper in the frames and took out the glass.  I put the finished product in our sunroom.  I really liked the way it turned out!

Happy Monday!  This week is SO quiet at work because finals started today.  We had our finals lunch with our students which was really fun, I ate WAAAAY to much!!  I also picked up our Christmas cards today and started working on mailing those out.  .They are so cute this year!!

A quick project!

Last Saturday night I went over to my friend Sabrina's house to hang out because our husbands were in a poker tournament.   I decided to take over a quick project that I have been wanting to work on.  I saw this idea on another blog and I thought it turned out SO cute!!!   I wanted to try one.

You take a frame ( I used an 8x10 frame) and wrap pine garland around it.  I used almost 2 18 ft. garlands from the Dollar Tree for this wreath!  Then I  got our monogram from Wal-Mart and I got  a wooden monogram.  I still have to paint the E (it came white)  I want to paint it red.  Anyway, I am so happy with the way it turned out!
I have it in our dining room. I don't know if anyone else feels this way but I feel like I have SO much cute Christmas and winter decorations that I can't display them all.  Graig says I need to stop shopping-ha ha!  I don't really even buy a lot of new stuff I just get a few new things each year.  It adds up!

I still haven't taken our family Christmas card picture because on Tuesday Ava had pink eye!  The poor thing, it is just now clearing up.  Brock and Ava were super excited yesterday because they had the first SNOW DAY of the school year!!  I stayed home from work and they spent most of the day playing with our kids from our neighborhood.

Tonight Brock has his Chorus concert and then we are going to come homw and watch the Office Christmas show.  I can't wait!!
