Happy Birthday Brock!!

Brock is 11 today! I can't believe our sweet boy is 11. I know everyone says it, but the time has flown by! I can remember like it was yesterday bringing him home from the hospital.

Graig and I love his sense of humor, the way that he stays calm in the most intense situations (he does this in little league when he is pitching, I don't know how he does it, even if he's behind in the count he takes his time collects himself, and then he throws the ball~usually a strike), how he can be so sweet and protective of his baby sister, and how he loves to laugh.

Tonight we are going to celebrate by going out for pizza (his favorite!). Tomorrow Graig is going to take him to get his birthday present, I don't want to post it yet in case he reads this but we know he is going to love it!

Summer Reads

On Saturday Brock, Ava and I are heading to Wyoming for the week to visit my Dad. Graig is staying home to work. My Dad is selling his ranch in Wyoming so this will be the last time that we will be going out there. The kids have never been and I rented a convertible for a week so it should be a lot of fun! These are the two books that I will be reading while I am there.

I saw this book on one fabulous mom's blog. She is reading the earlier version "A Southern Belle Primer or why Princess Margaret will never be a Kappa Kappa Gamma." Some of my sorority students told me about this book too, so I think it will be so fun to read.

I got this one too because I heard it was so funny! I can totally relate because I have a 6 year old girl and there are tons of clothes that I won't let her wear because I think they are skanky. Ava and I call them "hoochie mama" clothes and she knows I won't let her buy them.

If anyone wants to read either of these books let me know and I can send them to you when I am done. The next few days will be so busy, I have tons of stuff to do at work and at home before we go on our vacation! Brock and Ava are visiting Grandma Jan until Thursday.

Sleepover from hell

I just got this email from my new friend Abby who lives a few streets behind me. Her son Bennett plays little league with Brock. Last week Brock and a few other boys spent the night at their house.

This is when I had "the sleepover from hell". When I took this picture, Brock said, " I'm gonna' shoot him in the head. Take it when I say 'now'". Can you see the Styrofoam bullet shoot off Kevin's head? It's a good one. Thought it would make you chuckle.

Brock and his friends are OBSESSED with Nerf guns. Graig and my Dad both say it's a "boy thing" and I have nothing to worry about. Why are boys so weird??

1 baby + Ava + 2 friends= a lot of stuff

Yesterday Brock had a Little League game (are you surprised??) This is his last all-star tournament. His last baseball game will be Friday night. (Thank God!!) My friend Sabrina's son Ethan plays on the team too and her husband Shawn coaches the team with Graig. Anyway, Sabrina just had a new baby, Eliza on July 26 and she decided that she wanted to go to the game yesterday. Since she has a bigger car I drove her car to the game. We had her car filled with the stroller, papasan chair, cooler, and diaper bag. I forgot how much stuff a 7 lb baby needs!! Ava was in heaven because she got to sit next to Eliza all the way to the game.

Happy Birthday Shelby!!

My sister, Shelby, is celebrating the big 3-0 today! She and her husband Ryan just moved to Iowa last month to start new jobs at the University of Iowa. Isn't she cute?? I love her hair, and yes it's her real color!

My sister is my absolute best friend on earth. She is such an inspiration to me. She is the most thoughtful, caring, and loving person that I know. She is always giving to others and when I am having a hard day she is the first person that I call. Even though we live about 1000 miles apart we keep in touch by calling each other or emailing each other almost every day.

She is the best Aunt to Brock and Ava, she loves sending them packages and cards and talking to them on the phone. I know that she is going to be a great mom someday :)
