Happy birthday Brock!!!

Today our boy turns 19!   Brock has been our greatest blessing and I'm so proud of the young man he has turned out to be.   He is hardworking, dedicated and caring and he goes after his goals 110%.

This fall he is traveling to Arizona to work and explore and to figure out what he wants to do in this big world of ours.  It is scary for me but he is SO excited to go and see a different part of the country.  I hope that he comes home with a clear vision of what he wants for his future.

Last year he celebrated his 18th birthday by jumping out of a plane.

This year the celebration won't be as exciting :-). We are going to have dinner and cake and celebrate his last year of being a teenager.  We love you Brock!!

Bunco night {watermelon margarita}

Last night was our monthly Bunco night!!   Our friend M and her husband own a campground and they live there full time in the summer.  We had Bunco outside on her deck.  It was a perfect night!

Here is a picture of the pavilion and fire pit at the campground.  It is beautiful!

Here's our monthly picture with the selfie stick

We even saw the fireworks from the baseball camp next door.  I.love.fireworks!!!

I made a fun watermelon margarita to drink

Watermelon margarita

1/2 cup watermelon cubed
1 lime
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
1/4 cup Tito's vodka
Poland watermelon margarita seltzer

Muddle one cut up lime with 1/2 cup of watermelon  chunks and a 1/4 teaspoon sea salt.  Stir in the vodka. Add watermelon margarita seltzer and enjoy!

Watermelon margarita is a summer flavor from Polar seltzer.  All of their special summer flavors are delicious but watermelon margarita is my favorite!!
Before Bunco Ava and I stopped at our neighbor's house for N's 6th birthday party!
Here is Ava and her friends with the birthday boy :-)

Today Ava and I are headed to a waterpark with friends.  We are trying to enjoy every single day of summer!!

July birthdays!

July was a busy month for birthdays for my girlfriends! It's always fun to celebrate and each birthday girl likes to do things a little different.  Of course we spent time celebrating my bestie S.

We also celebrated my friend J with a pool party and barbecue which was so fun!

A few days after that we had a little wine night for my friend K.  I always love getting together with these girlies.

We also celebrated my friend A.  It was a bittersweet celebration because she has just lost her MIL but I'm glad we all got together to celebrate her and enjoy her birthday.

Last, but not least, we had a fun dinner on the deck of the Autumn for our friend J. We had a little trouble with the selfie stick so this is the best one we got :-).

I'm so grateful for these friends and this season of celebrating that we've been in together. I look forward to many more birthdays in the years to come.

Happy birthday Shelby!!!

Today is Shelby's birthday!!! Sadly we live too far apart to be together today but we did talk and text and that's almost as good :-)

My sister is a great Mama to Ainsley and a loving wife to Ryan and a hardworking employee at Baylor.  I'm not sure how she does it all but she is is one of the most dedicated people I know. On top of all that she is also the glue that holds our family together.
She is the one that plans trips and holidays so we can spend time together and with my Dad and Vicki.
I am so thankful for her and I'm blessed that she's my sister and friend.

I hope you had a great day Shelby I love you!!!

I got a gift for my sister but totally forgot to send it-ugghhhh I'll save it for Christmas.  So yesterday I ordered her the Pioneer Woman cake platter and she picked it up at her Walmart in Texas.  I love the ship to store option :-) It was a great last minute gift and I'm so glad she got it in time for her birthday!

A day at the track!

Every summer we like to do a fun day trip with our neighbors.  We've gone to six flags, water parks and state parks in the past but this year we wanted to try something different so we planned a day trip to Saratoga race track!

Saratoga is the third oldest race track in the country.   Before each race, a bell is rung at exactly 17 minutes prior to scheduled post time to call the jockeys to the paddock.  We got an up close up views of the horses being led to the paddock because the path from the stables runs through the picnic area.  There is a also a spring called Big Red in the picnic area  where you can drink the famous Saratoga spring water!

It poured rain all.day.long so the track was muddy and wet.  We didn't let the rain stop our fun!

Before each race a bugler plays "Call  To The Post" to signal the race is about to begin.

We met our friend  L at the track too.  It wa so good seeing her and her girls!

Brock came too but he managed to avoid all pictures :-). There were 11 of us total and we had so much fun!  We bet $2 on each race and some of us even won a time or two!

I definitely want to go back before the end of summer.

If you go:
-Get there early to stake a claim on a picnic table.  You can do this by putting a blanket, cooler or table cloth on top.
-You can also set up folding chairs near your picnic table.
-We parked in free parking near the stables.  It was a hike to the gates but we got to see horses, jockies, and stable hands while we walked so that made the walk interesting :-) There is also a bus you can take from this area to the front gate if you don't want to walk.
-We paid general admission of $5 which got us bench seating in front of the track.  You can also pay extra to have a seat in the grandstand or you can rent a luxury box.  We loved being right by the track so general admissions was good for us.
-You  can bring a cooler with food and drinks. (No glass). We brought a small cooler and it worked out great!  If you're hungry they also have lots of food and beverage options at the track .

Happy betting!

Life lately

Last weekend Ava and I went to Cooperstown for the Hall of Fame parade.  It was a fun event!  We got to see so many hall of famers!

It was so fun and SO crowded!  We arrived right when in started and had to sqeeze in to see the parade.

Grandma Jan came to the parade with us too which was so fun!

Monday night my bestie R hosted book club.  She made  this adorable fruit platter using letter cookie cutters. it turned out so cute!

Tuesday night I went to a fundraising event with some girlfriends.  At the event everyone donates $100 and the group listens to 3 presentations and decides where the money should go.   My friend M gave a wonderful speech on a violence prevention program and it won!  $7,100 was donated to that organization!  It was a great night.

Ava and I have been spending a lot of time swimming this summer.  I am so thankful that so many of our friends have pools.  It's a great way to cool off in the afternoon heat!

I hope you had a great week
