Last week of school

Brock and Ava finally got out of school last week!!  Brock had end of the year exams (called Regents) and he passed all of them!  We are SO happy for him.  It was bittersweet for Ava because her elementary school is closing due to lack of enrollment.  I am so thankful that she is going to be in a great school in the fall but I am SO sad that she won't get to finish at her current school.

Here is a picture of Ava and her friend Ava and Eliza on the last day of school.  Each child got a medal which had a picture of the school which I thought was so nice.  Eliza came to school to watch her mom Sabrina in the closing assembly.  Sabrina helped coordinate a zumba dance which was really cute. I am so thankful they kept the mood upbeat and lively for the kids.

All the kids put their hand prints on an outside wall at the school which I thought was so sweet.
Here is Ava's hand print

Ava got 4 teeth removed last Thursday for her retainer.   She took a picture of her missing teeth and texted it to Graig since he was working we she got them pulled.

This morning Brock started his first job!  He works at a Music Camp at the College where Graig and I work! His job is to watch kids go from building to building and to make sure that they are safe.  He also helps them get to where they are going if they get lost.  He is going to work about 4-5 hours per day during the week.  A couple of his friends have the same job which makes it nice for him.

I am working every.single.day this week and we have things going on every night after work so I will be busy, busy, busy!  Happy Monday

The beginning of summer!

I guess I am in the (bad) habit of posting just once a week.  It seems like that's all I have time for these days!  Anyway, Brock and Ava are finally getting out of school this week and they are SO excited to start their summer!  I am excited too I love lazy summer days!  Here are some pictures from my iphone from this past week so you can see what we have been doing!

My friend Melany opened up her store!  It is SO beautiful and I am SO proud of her. It looks fantastic!  You can check out pictures from her new store  at http://www.projectanthologies.com/
I was honored to be her first customer last Monday :)

This is the fabric I got I am going to recover this bench.  I am really trying to love tangerine because I know it's the latest, greatest color but it honestly matches NOTHING in my house.  This fabric has a little tangerine but it has more blues, greens and reds which I have more of in our house.

I love to redo furniture and I also love to paint.  Usually my projects turn out pretty good but last fall I made the mistake of trying to paint our dining room chairs. My dining room set is a gift from my Dad and he used the set in his home and passed it down to me.   They turned out awful so I asked around and found a furniture refinisher that will refinish our tables and chairs. (Don't worry Dad he came highly recommended and has been refurnishing things for 25 years!)  Graig and I took our set down to get redone last week.  It's going to take about 6 weeks so we now have a folding table in our dining room :(  It will be worth it though and our tables and chairs will be re stained the same color.

Graig's brother Garth came to visit last week and he saw Ava perform at the talent show at her school!  He and his wife and newborn son are trying to move back here so he was here for a job interview.  I pray he gets it!  I would love to live close to them!
Ava's elementary school is closing next year due to low enrollment in our district.  We are SO sad and it's been a tough spring for us because we just love her school and teachers.  Last week we got to visit her new school and meet the teachers there.  I am so thankful that some of Ava's classmates will be going to the new school with her.  Here she is with her friends Mary and Ava.

Brock had a baseball game last night.  Ava took some pictures of him pitching.  Here he is in action!  It was a tough game and thankfully we won 3-2!

On Sunday we were at a lake and Ava got a mild concussion after she fell doing a back walkover so she has been taking it easy. The doctor said no dance or swimming for a week.  Brock has a game tonight and I am meeting some friends to start planning a baby shower! Happy Tuesday

Our weekend!

Last week was crazy busy Brock started his travel baseball season and Ava had practice after practice for her annual recital.  I spent the week working and driving them around from one activity to another.

I did have a little bit of time to paint this cabinet I got during our trip to Brimfield.  I wanted to put it in the center of our kitchen as a little island but sadly our kitchen is so tiny that I had to put it in the corner of our kitchen.  I do think it turned out cute and it provides us with a little more storage!

As usual all of these pics are from my iPhone and Ava likes to take pictures of herself with my phone.  Here she is with our dog Lilly.  Lilly is such a great puppy.  She loves going on walks, splashing in puddles, and snuggling next to us. This morning she curled up in the bathroom while I was taking a shower.

Our varsity high school baseball team won the state championship on Saturday!  It was big excitement for our small town.  Graig and Brock went down to watch the game. Here is a picture I found from Brock's JV season this spring.  Brock was #20.  I want him to stop growing.  He is already so much taller than me!

Ava had her dance recital this weekend and she did four shows.  She was one tired girl last night.  She did not want me to take her picture at all so I am thankful that a professional photographer took pictures during the recital.  I was able to buy some of Ava dancing thank goodness!

Here are a few that I took.  Ava with her BFF's Eliza and Anika.
I love this picture of Ava and Eliza.  Eliza and Sabrina came to watch the show yesterday and Eliza loved it!  I see lots of recitals in her future :)

Our neighbor and Ava's friend Sarah was also in the show.  Here is Sarah, Anika and Ava.  These girls have so much fun together!

Happy Monday!!

Weekend update!

Things have been crazy busy so I haven't been posting regularly.  I love the summer but I feel like we are always on the go so it's hard to post to my blog.

Anywhoo here are some pics from our weekend.  At the beginning of May I decided to start project 365 where you take a picture each day to document your life. Here is my picture collage for the month of May.  Some days I forgot to take pics so I just filled those days in with quotes I liked from pinterest.  I think this will be fun to look back on the year and see what we've done!

Saturday Brock had his first travel baseball game of the season.  On his second at bat he got hit really hard with a pitch.  Thankfully was OK to keep playing in the game.  This is a picture that I took after the game.  You can see the outline of the baseball stitching:(

Yesterday was our Girls on the Run 5k! Girls on the Run is a fabulous running and self esteem building program for girls in grades 3-6.  I was one of the coaches at Ava's school.  My friend Sabrina was another coach.  It was so fun working with her.

Here is a picture of our team of girls.  Notice the dark sky in the back we were all scared there was going to be a thunderstorm but thankfully it didn't rain at all during the race!
Here is a picture of the 4 coaches-Sabrina, Erin, Heidi and me. Each team had a different color bandanna because there were 1000 girls in the race.  The bandannas were used so we find our girls.  We decided to wear ours on our heads so it would be easy for our girls to spot us.

Here is Ava and me.  They had a hair station where the girls could get their hair colored before the race.  The girls on the Run colors are pink and green so Ava got pink and green striped in her hair.

After the race we went to Grandma Jan's for pizza. It was a fun end to our busy weekend!
