Friday Favorites

Happy Friday friends!  We have a fun weekend planned so I'm ready to get it started.  Today I am linking up with ErikaNarci and Andrea to share my Friday Favorites.

1-A favorite this week has been having Brock home.  We have had so much fun and I'm going to miss him terribly when he goes back to Arizona tomorrow.

2-We have been busy getting Ava ready for her study abroad year in the Czech Republic and her going away party is next weekend.  We FINALLY got her Visa this week and we talked to her first host family and decided when she will leave. We have a little over two weeks left with her at home.  I am SO thrilled for her and she is so excited to go but I'm going to miss her so much.

3.  I just finished reading  Monsters of Templeton and it was so good!  The story is set in Cooperstown, NY   This book was so great- It was historical fiction so it had lots of references to Cooperstown (called Templeton in the book) which I thought was so interesting since we live so close  The main character is searching for her father and learning secrets about her family along the way.  Her ancestors founded the town of Templeton and we learn all about them and their secrets in the book.  I liked this book so much I want to read the other books she has written.

4. I got these bracelets from the Dixie Delights shop on Etsy and have been wearing them all summer long  I just love the colors!  They can be dressed up or down depending on what I am wearing.  I love them and I want to order a few more colors for fall.

I hope you have a great weekend!!

Brock's visit

We have LOVED having Brock home this week.   We've spent lots of time together and have loved just being together.  It's been so great.  He goes back to Arizona on Saturday so we are soaking up every drop of family time.

Monday we went to the race track in Saratoga.

Sadly our horses didn't win but I always love going.  I love being at the track and seeing the horses.  Brock and Ava had a fun time.

Every morning after Graig goes to work Brock and Ava come and lay with me and we all play on our phones and talk about what we are going to do for the day.

We also have spent some time cooking.  Brock has a few dishes he makes in Arizona and he wants to learn a few more so this week I taught him to make homemade macaroni and cheese and barbecue pork. Earlier this summer I got this DIY recipe binder and I've been adding our family favorites this summer.  I'll pass it on to Brock and Ava in a few years.

Last night we had a photographer come over and she took a few family pictures.  Here is one of the pics from my iPhone.

I am so proud of Brock and I'm so thankful we have this week with him. We have had a blast!  He goes back to Arizona Saturday and then he  starts classes at ASU on August 17.

I hope you've had a great week!

Happy birthday Brock!!

Today Brock turns 20!!!   I am so proud of the young man he is.  Last August he moved to Arizona to find his way in this big world.  After a year of college he wasn't sure what he wanted to do so he moved to Arizona to figure it out.  I'm proud that he is figuring things out.  He got a good job at State Farm insurance working in the customer care center and he's going to Arizona State in the fall. He absolutely loves Arizona!

Right now he's  home for a week and we are enjoying every second with him.

Today we are headed to the Saratoga race track with him for a day of fun!  We are going to keep the celebration going tonight with a cookout and ice cream cake.

Happy birthday Brock!!!

Our Saturday

The most exciting thing that happened today is that Brock came home!   I haven't seen him since we went to Florida in March and it's so great to have him home.  His 20th birthday is Monday and I'm so happy that we will all be together on his birthday.

Graig went to pick him up at the Syracuse airport this morning and then they stopped for a little bit and played poker at the casino-Graig is thrilled Brock can play! They got home about 7.  He was exhausted because he took a red eye flight so he went  bed early.  I did get one picture of him before he went to sleep.

Yesterday morning I went to the farmers market and out to lunch with two of my friends.  It was so fun.  I love going to the farmer's market on Saturday.  I went with my friends Stephanie and Vicki.  I love these girls.  We always have so much fun together ❤️

I love that they had all this sign at the entrance to the market.

We walked around and got some produce and took pictures of all the delicious food.

I got corn, a peach pie, and peaches.  I loved these flowers.  They were so pretty!

After the farmers market we walked on Main Street and went to the distillery because they have cute gift items and free bottles.  So we each got a few empty bottles for an upcoming craft project.

We went to lunch at Origins Cafe.  It was so delicious as always.  I got a chicken salad sandwich-it was amazing!

It was a great day!

Ava is at basketball camp this weekend with her team. She sent me this picture of them eating a team dinner at Ruby Tuesday's.  She'll be home tonight.

Happy weekend!

Saturday Snack {bruschetta and watermelon margarita}

Last night Graig and I had a rare  quiet night at home so I whipped up two quick recipes.

I made bruschetta as an appetizer for our dinner and it was delicious.  I make bruschetta a lot in the summer because of all the fresh tomatoes that are in season.  I have made bruschetta for a few parties this summer and it's always a hit.  I had all the ingredients on hand so I made bruschetta.

There are lots of ways to make bruschetta but I make mine very simple.  It takes about 5 minutes to put together.

Bruschetta
5 Roma tomatoes chopped
1-2 cloves garlic chopped
1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
4-6 fresh basil leaves torn
Olive oil

Combine all ingredients and then drizzle olive oil and top and stir to combine.  This will last a few days in the refrigerator but it never lasts that long in our house!

I buy a load of French bread at the store slice it and brush the tops with olive oil and sea salt.  Bake in a 400 degree oven for 7 minutes.

Add your fresh bruschetta on top of the crusty bread and enjoy!

I also made a batch of watermelon margaritas.  They were so refreshing and delicious!  The perfect summery drink 🍉

Watermelon Margarita
Fill your blender 2/3 full with fresh watermelon chunks
The juice from one lime
3 ounces tequila
8 ounces watermelon Margarita seltzer
I buy this seltzer and it's great!  Very bubbly and delicious.  I stopped drinking Diet Coke in May and this is a good substitute

Blend all ingredients until smooth.  Serve over ice in a Margarita glass and enjoy!

Makes 2-3 drinks.

Have a great Saturday!

Crafty Wednesday {succulent planter}

Hello Wednesday!   For this weeks Crafty Wednesday I wanted to update my succulent planter.  I got this planter for my birthday in January from my friend Sabrina.   I planted succulents in it and haven't done anything with it since.  So I refreshed it with new succulents.

It was looking so sad because most of the plants were dead or dying.

I used succulents from my wall planter to fill up my planter.

I put this planter in our kitchen where it will get more light.

This was an easy update.   Happy Wednesday!

Our Saturday

Saturday morning Rachael and I had a craft class at the library.   Our business Branch and Bloom does craft nights one time per month and the library asked us to be part of their DIY day.  We made terrariums.  At this class we had some kids come which was fun.

Here was the finished project.  I love making terrariums.

The library also set up a display of books for us about terrariums that you could get ar the library.

We did this craft outside which was good because it's so messy!  We also had a few kids come which was nice.  The loved it.  Our friend Melany's daughter came-she's visiting her friends this week since they live in Florida now.  It was great to see her!

Our friend Lisa cane too which was so great.  She loves plants so this was a perfect project for her.

In the afternoon Graig and I volunteered for United Way.  We served beer at a concert. We've never done it before and it was hard work but it was fun!

Here is our big group.

And then here are my friends and I we were the servers.   It was a fun night.  When someone would give us a tip we would give them a high five.

1.  Brock is coming home in one week!  We are thrilled that he is coming home and have some fun things planned for him when he is here.

2. Another favorite this week is avacado toast.  I have been eating it every morning for breakfast.  It is so good and so filling!

3.  Our dog Lilly LOVES laying by the front windows in our house to look out at people walking by and cars driving by.  If you need to find her ever you know where to look :)

4.  I ordered some fun new cleaning products from Grove Collaborative and I've had fun trying them out this week.  I love the geranium scent from Mrs. Meyers so I stocked up on that one.

5.  I got this cardboard palm plant at the Farmer's Market about a month ago and it's loving it's new pot.  It has been growing like crazy in our sunroom!
