Paint and Sip Brunch

So we are finally all settled into our new summer home and I decided to have my friends over for a paint and sip/brunch.

My friend Lauren was our painting teacher  and we decided to do this painting.  Lauren was so sweet and made mine in advance because she knew I would be busy during the party. I love the way it turned out and I'm going to put it in our kitchen.

I did the painting part of the party in our garage which worked out great.  I didn't do many decorations but I did a chalkboard sign and a cute little banner to make the garage festive.

I had about 20 friends come over this morning which was so fun!

We spent most of our time crowded around the little table in my sunroom.  People loved it out there!  I hope we have many parties out there this summer ❤️

The paintings took a couple of hours to do and during breaks people would come inside to get food and drinks.  I took a few pictures of the paintings in progress.  I like how each person chose a little bit different color scheme.

A few friends brought me housewarming gifts today  that were so thoughtful ❤️❤️ monograms and plants two of my very favorite things

It was a great morning and I was so happy to celebrate our new home with friends.

Friday Favorites

Today I am linking up with ErikaNarci and Andrea to share my Friday favorites.  I am  happy it's Friday!  This weekend is going to be a lot of fun!  I can't wait!

1- We are finally almost all moved in to our new summer house! It's been a ton of work but we are loving it here.    Sunday I'm having my first party at our new house.  It's going to be a Paint and Sip brunch.  I have a fun menu planned and I have someone who is going to teach us to make a painting.  She was sweet enough to do mine ahead of time as a sample.  I love the way in turned out!

2-Ava is starting a new basketball season and her first games are this weekend.  She will be in tournaments every weekend until the end of June.  I love watching her play!

3-Wednesday night was our annual end of the year awards dinner for the fraternity and sorority community.  There are 700 students involved in Greek Life and it was a great night to celebrate them. It was such a fun event!

4-These stamps are coming out at the Post Office today and I want to get them.  I think they are so cute!

I hope you have a great weekend!

Crafty Wednesday {Administrative Professionals Day}

Today is Administrative Professionals Day and I decided to make something special for the two Administrative Professionals in our office.  They do so much to keep everyone in our office organized and to keep everything running smoothly.  I thought they deserved a little tread.  A few weeks ago I got these sempervivum (hen and chicks) for our upcoming Plant and Pose craft class.

Plant and Pose is a night where we are going to make hypertufa (concrete planters) and we have a friend who is a yoga teacher who is going to lead a vinyasa yoga class.

When I was getting the plants for this class I got a few extra for Administrative Professionals Day. I thought they would be sweet gifts. I love these plants because sempervivum (hen and chicks) are easy plants.  They grow in any soil and don't need much water.  I always love the color variations of the plants-so pretty!!!

I planted the sempervivum in hypertufa planters.  Since these were small I didn't have to add much extra dirt.

They loved them.  It was a quick and easy gift to put together for them.  It was a great day.

Home Tour Tuesday {dining room/kitchen}

Today on our home tour is our dining room/kitchen.  We live in a 1933 Tudor house which we love.  Here we are in front of our house this past fall.

This summer we are renting our house out to baseball families that are here for camps.  We have 12 weeks booked.  During that time we are going to move into a little house that we bought last fall.

Our living room and dining room are two separate spaces on our main floor.  We use our dining room for eating obviously but also for crafts and games.  I love our cozy dining room and we spend a lot of time in this space.

Here is our dining room from another angle.  My Dad gave us the table and a few years ago we had it refinished and stained darker.  The French doors go out to our back dec k and the doorway leads to our office.

Here is our kitchen. A few years ago I painted our cabinets and last year we put up the wooden shades. We spend lots of time in this little space :-).

I hope you loved our tour.  Until next week.

Out weekend

This weekend we moved into our new house!   Since we got back from DC we have been moving stuff over slowly and Saturday and all day Sunday we unpacked and got settled in to our new place. I would say we are about 75% settled.

I love our new sunroom.  I brought over our blanket chest and made a little seating area.  We are finding out our new house is SMALL.  So this piece is good because it serves two functions-storage and seating.

Friday night Ava's two best friends surprised her and took her to a Chainsmokers concert to celebrate her birthday.  Her friends talked to me about this a few months ago so I made sure we didn't have any plans so she could go.  She was SO surprised and had a great time!

Saturday my friend Rachael hosted an open house at her family's organic grocery store.  She made canvas bags to sell.  I bought this one.  I love it!!

She also had these cute cookies made because it was Earth Day :-)

We had a table at her Open House to advertise our summer craft classes.

Saturday night we went out to dinner to celebrate my friend T's birthday!  So fun!!

Sunday we unpacked all day and then at night for a little treat we went out for ice cream with Sabrina and Eliza.

I hope to post pics of our finished rental house soon.

Washington {Day 2}

I'm back to talk to you about day 2 of our Washington trip.  Tuesday was our second day in Washington.  We started our day at the Capital.  I requested a  tour through the office of our Represenitive.  We met in his office for our tour.

It was a beautiful day and our tour started outside.  We learned about the history of the building and where the Inaguration takes place and then we headed inside.

Inside we saw The Statue of Freedom.  This same statue is on the top of the Capital.

We saw the old Supreme Court and Senate chambers.  So much history was made in these rooms.

These are the stairs that the President-elect and other officials walk down right before the Inauguration.

The Rotunda was my favorite spot in the Capital.  It was so beautiful.

After our tour we walked to the Library of Congress.  The main building was breathtaking.  The architectural detail was unbelievable.  It was just amazing.  Unexpectedly, this was my favorite building in DC.

After the Library of Congress we went to lunch and then we headed to the Botonic Garden.

It was so beautiful!  There were so many wonderful plants.  I was in heaven because I love plants.  We explored the Botonic Garden for about an hour.

Sadly, the Botonic Garden was the last stop on our trip.  After we toured that we went and packed up our car and headed back to NY.  We had a great few days in DC and we want to go back!  There is so much more to see.

Friday Favorites

Today I am linking up with ErikaNarci and Andrea to share my Friday favorites.  I am  happy it's Friday!  This weekend is going to be a good mix of work and fun.  I love weekends like that!

1-We took a little trip to Washington DC earlier this week.  Ava is on spring break and I wanted to do something fun with her and Anne our exchange student.  I did a post about our trip here and I'm hoping to get another one up this week.

We have loved having Anne with us and she moves to her new house today.  She is going to be with our neighbors so we will still see her a lot!  Anne is a Rotary exchange student so she will live with three families during her stay.  We were family number 2 and she'll go home in July after her stay with our neighbors.

2-This weekend we are moving into our new summer house. We are renting our home out this summer to baseball families that are in town for baseball camps.  We have been moving stuff over slowly all week and I bought new bedding and towels and I'm going to get everything washed and ready to go for when we move in next weekend. Here we are in front of our new house last fall  with our realtor.

3-I am in love with string gardens!  This week I did a tutorial.  You can read it here and I'm so excited because my friend Rachael and I are doing string gardens as one of our summer craft classes for Branch and Bloom.  If you are local we will be doing this class in August 😉❤
We are doing four craft classes total this summer
May 13-Farm Retreat
June 9-Plant and Pose
July 13-monogrammed Wine Glasses
August-Cider, String Gardens and Sunflowers (date TBD)

4-Sunday afternoon I'm headed to a yoga retreat.  I'm looking so forward to going.  Yoga is one of my favorite things ever.  This retreat is for restorative yoga which is a relaxation form of yoga.  I can't wait!

I hope you have a great weekend!
