Weekend Fun!

We are soaking up the last bit of summer before fall classes start on Monday.

I got together with my friend V and we made eggplant parm.  I've never made it at home and I love it so it was fun to learn to make it with her.

Here is our finished product!

I also got together with my friend/neighbor K to can tomatoes and salsa.  Canning is hard work!  We chopped and boiled tomatoes for hours.

We started with all of these tomatoes!

After hours of hard work here was our finished product. K and I were thrilled!

In other exciting news Brock found an apartment!  We are so thrilled for him.  He sent us this picture of his kitchen.  He has a great roommate and his complex has a gym and a pool.

Ava has been in Colorado for the week visiting her her aunt and uncle.  She sent us this picture of her getting ready to zip line.

Bestie R and I went on bestie S's boat yesterday.  It was a goregous day on the lake!
The three of us went tubing and it was hilarious.  We went so fast!

It has been a great weekend so far!

Whirlwind!

This past few weeks have been a whirlwind full of fun, friends and parties.  I am really trying to enjoy every single second of the summer.

Last Wednesday we had a birthday party for four friends celebrating August birthdays.  It was a great night!

Rachael and I made the 4 birthday girls these little serving trays.  I'm going to show a tutorial on them next week.  They were so easy to make and the birthday girls loved them!

Friday Brock left for Arizona.  Ava took this selfie of us on his last night at home :-)

Saturday we celebrated my friend Debbie's birthday!  It was a beautiful night and it was such a fun party!

Sunday, Sabrina and I went to our friend Melinda's house to rescue barn board from a falling down property near Melinda's farm.  We got all sorts of wood to make different projects.  I made serving trays, candle holders and I got wood to make shelves for two of our bathrooms.  I will show all of my projects next week!

Monday I went to the Glimmerglass Opera.  It was my first time going and it was fabulous.  The singers were so talented and the opera was beautiful. It was an amazing experience!

That was our week!

Saturday was my bestie S's birthday!  I posted these pics of us on fb to wish her a happy birthday.

Saturday our friends B and M had a party.  It was a fun time.  They had a band and everyone danced and ate it was so fun! S wore her birthday crown all night :-)

We even took a golf cart ride!

I love my pineapple plant and it's been doing growing all summer.  It takes forever to grow a pineapple btw :-) Sadly yesterday a squirrel had a few bites of it :-(.

Girls night!

Last night bestie R hosted a girls night!  Her sister is visiting from California and she wanted all of us to get to hang out with her.

It was pouring rain so instead of being on the deck like she planned we were inside.  R put out a fabulous spread of food!

It was a great night we talked and laughed and ate for hours and hours.

I can't wait until we do it again!

Wednesday, Wednesday

Last night Ava and I stayed up way too late and watched Olympics gymnastics.  It was so fun!  It was great watching them with her.  I found this adorable picture of her from when we watched together in 2008.  We were in Wyoming visiting with my Dad.  She loved this leotard and wore it everywhere!

Tonight I went to a painting party with a few friends.  I am so NOT a painter but it was fun to try it.

A box of happy

My good friend H lost her grandmother over the weekend. H's grandma was full of life and love and she adored H and her sister.  She loved to cook, bake, garden and spend time with her family. Sadly I never got the chance to meet her but H loved her and talked about her grandma all the time.  I feel like I did get to know her a little bit through H.

Here's a pic of H, me and R from my birthday lunch last winter.

Bestie R and I were at a loss for what to get H to let her know that we are thinking of her during this difficult time.  You see H is an amazing cook so any food item was out, she has an amazing garden full of vegetables and flowers so flowers were out.  H even taught me how to can!  She cans everything from her amazing garden.

Thank goodness for Pinterest!  We were looking there and found a cute idea for a Box of Sunshine.  We decided to get her a box of yellow items to cheer her up.

Here's our finished product.  We dropped it off to H this morning and she loved it!

It was a fun little project to put together!

Weekend fun!!!

Ava and I started our weekend early!  We left early Friday morning for a trip to Water Safari in Old Forge.  We went with my bestie R and her sister D and cousin V.  We had our kids too so we had 11 people total on our trip.

We took a quick pic before we went into the park.

Water Safari is the biggest water park in NY.  They also have carnival rides and a circus which is included in your admission price!

We left early and got to the park around 10:30.
We got a spot with chairs and put our stuff down and then started riding water slides.

We were on the slides and rides and we spent most of the day soaking wet so sadly I didn't get many pictures :-(

I did get one while we were eating lunch on  our chairs.

It was a great day and next year I'd like to spend two days there because it's so big!

If you go:

-Go early and get lounge chairs for your group.  We got chairs near the entrance.  Next year I'd like  to be further back in the park because we had to walk a long way to get back to our chairs.

-Bring a cooler with drinks and lunch.  We packed sandwiches. chips, fruit, cookies and drinks so we had plenty of food for the day.  They also sell food there and the kids got a treat in the afternoon.

-Bring  flip flops to wear at the park.  We walked all over and even ride the carnival rides in our bare feet (yuck!).  Next year I'll bring us cheap flip flops to wear around the park.

Saturday I went to the farmers market and got two beautiful bouquets of flowers.  I had so many flowers I got two arrangements out of one bunch!

Sunday was Brock's birthday!  We celebrated at home with pizza and cake.

It was a great weekend!

Happy birthday Brock!!!

Today our boy turns 19!   Brock has been our greatest blessing and I'm so proud of the young man he has turned out to be.   He is hardworking, dedicated and caring and he goes after his goals 110%.

This fall he is traveling to Arizona to work and explore and to figure out what he wants to do in this big world of ours.  It is scary for me but he is SO excited to go and see a different part of the country.  I hope that he comes home with a clear vision of what he wants for his future.

Last year he celebrated his 18th birthday by jumping out of a plane.

This year the celebration won't be as exciting :-). We are going to have dinner and cake and celebrate his last year of being a teenager.  We love you Brock!!
