Our week!

I am SO glad it's Thursday. This week has been busy, busy, busy and I am ready for the weekend to relax and to work on a few projects around our house.

Here are some pictures from our week.

Brock got his license last month.  A few weeks ago he finally picked out a car.  He paid for the car using his own money that he earned doing a paper route and working in the summers.  He got a Honda accord.  It's a great car for him!    It has 100,000 miles on it, it's  a stick shift and it has an automatic starter and back up camera.  He absolutely loves it and is so proud of it.  We went to dinner Sunday night and he drove us!  I took a picture of him before we left our house. He was thrilled as you can tell.

In the fall I am going to run a marathon relay with 3 of my girl friends.  We are each going to run 6 or 7 miles depending on the leg that we are in.   I think it will be fun and it will give me something to train for this year.

My town has a very active Garden Club and I've gone to a few meetings this year.  There was a meeting on Monday and we learned all about terrariums.  I went right home and made my own.  I like the way it turned out!

Yesterday I got to eat lunch with these two cuties and their moms.  We had such a great time laughing and talking.

and great news my volleyball team won our game last night!!  We haven't won a game all year so we were all excited to finally get a win!

Tonight Ava has a basketball game and I have book club with my friends.  Happy Thursday!

Things that make me happy!

It has been SO hot and miserable here.  I love summer but this heat and humidity have got to go! I'm having one bad hair day after another-ha ha.
Anyway, I am going to concentrate on the good things instead of the things that are driving me crazy so here are some things that are making me happy today.

I picked this bunch of flowers from my garden to put on our dining room table.

Here is a close up of one of the sunflowers.  I planted my sunflowers in a huge pot this year and they are very happy there.  They have been blooming for a couple of weeks now.

Here is my summer centerpiece.  My poor little succulent in the apothecary jar has seen better days.  I still love the idea of having succulents in jars.  I just bought a new one that I need to plant in this jar.  Hopefully this one will live!

I love these little stem vases I got at Target.  I filled them with flowers from our yard.

This is another succulent plant I got at Lowe's.  I put it in a silver bowl I got at a garage sale.
I love potted sunflowers.   I bought this one last week and I love it!

This is a table that I got at a yard sale for $10!  I have a ton of tables but this one was so cheap and in such good condition I couldn't pass it up.  This is an in-progress project.  Last weekend I spray painted it turquoise  This weekend I  want to put our monogram on it or paint some chevron stripes...or do both!  I haven't decided yet.
I really want to be more organized so I bought this book on Amazon yesterday.  I can't wait to read it.

I also saw this idea on the Real Simple website and I thought it was great. This is a snack station for your fridge.  So when you or your kids need a snack they can go into this container and get a quick snack.  I am going to make one of these for us this week.

What is making you happy today?

garage sale finds!

Almost every weekend Sabrina, Allison and I go to yard sales to find treasures.  We are going again tomorrow morning.  I thought I would show some of the things we found last weekend.

I love these, I bought 8 yellow bowls.  Here's one with my salad from tonight.

I LOVE turqouise so when I saw this I thought it was perfect.  It's really old use to be used on electric poles.

My friend Becca uses enamel pots and bowls for drinks when she has parties.  I thought this would be good for Gatorade, capri sun, etc when Brock and Ava have their friends over.

This turquoise crate is going to hold magazines in my room.

Another enamel pot that I am using as a flower pot.

I love old windows!  This one was $3 and I put it in my garden. I like it just the way it is, I'm not going to paint it or do anything else to it.

Speaking of my garden, I picked these beautiful flowers from it this afternoon.  I love all the summer blooms!

Have a good weekend!

Garage Sales, Baby Girls, Peonies and Turtles

This is going to be the most random post ever!  We have had lots and lots going on and I am going to try to condense everything that has been happening down to one post.  I am going to apologize in advance for the lackluster photography in this post, all of these pictures came from my iphone.  Lately I have been too lazy to take real pictures with my camera-ha ha!
Where should I begin... last weekend my friend Sabrina and I hit up a few garages sales on Saturday, we got some really cute things!  We also had our own sale at my house on Sunday with about 6 other families!  We made over $600 and all of the money will be used to help send our boys to a week long baseball camp/tournament.  The cost is about $800 per boy so the garage sale was only one of the MANY fundraisers that we have held this year.

Here are some pics of the things that I got

A white vase for only $1.00!  I love this I have it in our dining room, I am not sure what I am going to put in it yet but I love the way it looks!

Black and white chicken plate that cost only 50 cents!  There were two so Sabrina took the other one to put in her house.

Pier One candle holder.  This was free!!  It was not sold during our yard sale so I kept it!

The little flower pots were $2 each,   I love the colors!

Today after work I was watering my flowers and I saw this giant snapping turtle sunning in our driveway!  I couldn't my eyes!  Ava and I were the only ones home at the time.  I called Graig who was no help because he was in the middle of batting practice with Brock's baseball team so I called our neighbor Heidi.  She came over with her kids and we got the turtle into a big plastic storage tub and we took it to a steam about 1 mile away from our house.

After we removed the turtle I was able to finish watering my flowers and plants and I cut some peonies for our living room.

Yesterday my sister Shelby went for her ultrasound and she found out she is having a baby GIRL!!
Ava and I are SO excited!  Graig and Brock were hoping for a boy-ha ha  She is due on October 1.  They don't have any names picked out right now but she wants to decide before her shower in July.  She also registered for this adorable bedding and accessories at Target.  Graig and I bought her the 3 piece bedding set as a gift for finding out the gender!

Kimba's Garden Party

Kimba, one of my favorite bloggers is having a Garden Party Today!! You should go to her site and see all the people that have posted some beautiful summer projects and flowers, I can't wait to go through all of them and get some good ideas. I love planting flowers and making the outside of our house look pretty. It's a never ending job! I think I will always have a project I want to do or a new idea I want to try. Here are some pictures from our yard this year.

I made this chair planter this year. I love the way it turned out. I got the chair for $3 at a yard sale and the seat was missing so it was perfect for putting a pot right where the seat goes. I spray painted the chair cream and then I dry brushed black and apple green over the whole chair. I posted about this project here. This is a bird bath that we made in our Craft Club last year. This is the second summer that I have had it out I think I like it better this year than last year. When it rains it fills up with water. My super talented friend Sabrina wants us to make these again with a smaller leaf on top and a larger leaf on bottom so we can make a fountain. I think those would be so pretty! These are the flowers hanging up on our garage. To save money this year I put together my own baskets. I just went to the nursery and got a lot of sun loving plants and stuck them in this planter that I already had. They have already grown so much! I got two of these little pots of petunias at Lowe's for only $5!! I couldn't believe how cheap they were. They are by our side door. I love the white, pink and red together. Ava's tomato plants on our deck. The girl loves tomatoes!! The bigger plant are Roma tomatoes and the smaller one is grape tomatoes. They look a little droopy, I will have to water them tonight!
I love this window box right by our side door. Usually I try to do a color theme in this box but this year I just put in a lot of sun loving flowers.
I hope you enjoyed my garden tour, It will be so fun to look at all the other bloggers who are participating in the Garden Tour. Go to Kimba's blog to see more of the Garden Party
